From flying off to Neverland with Peter Pan to diving under the sea with Nemo, the upcoming season offers something special for preschoolers, elementary-aged kids, tweens, and even parents who grew up loving these stories themselves.
A Season Designed for Every Family
The 79th season places a strong focus on accessibility, imagination, and interactive storytelling. Several productions include sensory-friendly elements, relaxed environments, and immersive experiences created especially for young audiences and children with sensory sensitivities.
One of the most anticipated experiences of the season is Peter Pan’s Neverland Adventure: A Sensory Theatre Experience, opening in August. This gentle, interactive production allows children to sit onstage and actively explore the world of Neverland through puppetry, music, and theatrical magic.
Families can also look forward to the return of audience favorite Doggie On My Doorstep: A Holiday Tail, a dialogue-free holiday adventure featuring adorable puppetry and physical comedy perfect for little ones and first-time theatre-goers.
Beloved Stories Come to Life On Stage
This season is filled with classic children’s literature and iconic family entertainment, including:
- A Year With Frog and Toad
- If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
- Charlotte’s Web
- Disney’s Finding Nemo: A Family Musical
- Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical
For the first time ever, the Charlotte theatre company will present How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, bringing the Whos of Whoville, Max the dog, and the Grinch himself to the stage just in time for the holidays.
Educational & Inspiring Theatre Experiences
Older kids and tweens can experience historical and culturally rich performances including:
- One Noble Journey: A Box Marked Freedom, telling the remarkable true story of Henry “Box” Brown
- Amelia Earhart, an immersive drama exploring the life of the legendary aviation pioneer
- Beneath the Baobab Tree, a world-premiere celebration of African folklore and storytelling
The season also includes the return of GRIMMZ Fairy Tales II: Once Upon a Rhyme, featuring hip-hop storytelling, remix-style fairy tales, and high-energy theatrical effects that older kids and teens will love.
Tickets & Auditions
Season subscriptions and single-show tickets are now available, including sensory-friendly and ASL-interpreted performances. School field trips and touring productions can also be booked for the upcoming season.
Young performers interested in being part of the magic can audition, too! Student auditions for How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical are scheduled for May 18–19 for performers ages 9 and older. Adult unified auditions for the season take place May 29–30.
