One of the best parts of summer for me is how things slow and I can read as much as I want! At any given time, I have at least 2 audiobooks going and 2 books on my Kindle~ Generally it's a combo of something light and some type of thriller~ Here are my tops reads for far this summer! Most of these are on Libby or if you have Kindle unlimited, you can grab them there!
The Heir Apparent Rebecca Armitage
If you love witty dialogue, unforgettable characters, and a story that feels like a cross between a royal drama and a cozy mystery, this one is for you. The audiobook is the best thanks to a fantastic narrator who brings every character to life. It’s clever, funny, and incredibly entertaining. While it is not based on any real family (wink wink—if you know, you know once you start it), it definitely gives that kind of “insider” royal vibe.
The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion Beth Brower
(Read books 1–4, then switch to the audiobooks, trust me!)
This charming historical series completely surprised me. Told through journal entries, Emma is witty, independent, and impossible not to love. After the first few books, the audiobooks become such a delight that I found myself wanting to listen every chance I got. If you enjoy character-driven stories with dry humor and slow-building friendships, don’t miss this series. If you love Bridgerton than you will LOVE Emma
Counterfeit Kirstin Chen
This smart, fast-paced novel follows two women pulled into the world of luxury handbag counterfeiting. It’s part crime story, part friendship drama, and full of twists that kept me guessing. I listened to the audiobook, but it’s an easy, engaging read either way. And if you loved Crazy Rich Asians, you will LOVE this book.
Shell Games Bonnie Kistler
What starts as one story quickly turns into something much bigger. There are so many unexpected twists that I found myself saying, “Wait…what?” more than once. It’s a wild ride that’s perfect if you love thrillers that keep you guessing until the very last page.

Forget the picture-perfect school drop-off line—this novel dives into the complicated friendships, competition, and secrets that can exist between parents. It’s funny, dramatic, and just a little over-the-top in the best way. If you’ve ever volunteered at school or stood in the carpool line long enough to people-watch, you’ll definitely recognize a few personalities. (Think: Blair and Serena as adults…xoxo.)

This one beautifully blends family relationships, grief, hope, and a touch of wonder. It’s an emotional read that reminds us how people find each other when they need it most. Thoughtful, uplifting, and perfect if you’re looking for something with heart.
You Deserve to Know Aggie Blum Thompson
If you’re in the mood for a page-turning domestic thriller, add this one to your list. Secrets unravel one layer at a time, and just when you think you’ve figured everything out, another twist appears. I flew through this book. I love this author and have read everything she writes.
The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits Jennifer Weiner
My top pick for the summer! I wish I could read this book over and over again. This novel explores sisterhood, fame, music, and the complicated relationships that shape us. It feels nostalgic while also telling a deeply emotional family story. Even if you weren’t a huge fan of ‘90s music, you’ll still get pulled into the characters and their journey.
She’s Not Sorry Mary Kubica
If psychological thrillers are your thing, this one delivers. A hospital nurse becomes involved in a mysterious case that quickly spirals into something much darker. It’s suspenseful, creepy, and full of twists that will keep you reading late into the night.
