River Jam — U.S. National Whitewater Center

River Jam is the Whitewater Center's signature outdoor concert series, bringing over 80 live performances to the banks of the Catawba River every summer. The series features a rotating lineup of local favorites and nationally touring artists spanning Americana, roots, soul, R&B, folk, bluegrass, and rock.
No ticket or admission is required — just show up, find a spot on the lawn, and enjoy. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome, and canopies or shade structures are permitted as long as they are staked down and don't block other guests' views. No outside food or beverages are allowed on the property, including in the parking lots, but the Whitewater Center has a wide variety of food and drink available for purchase. Leashed pets are always welcome.

Jammin' by the Tracks — Town of Waxhaw

Jammin' by the Tracks is Waxhaw's signature free outdoor concert series, held downtown under the historic Water Tower and in the Downtown Park Amphitheater. The series draws a lively crowd of locals and visitors to the charming streets of one of Union County's most beloved historic towns.
Each concert features a different live act across a variety of genres, from tribute bands to local favorites, along with food trucks and family-friendly fun. Beer sales are available at Community Corner concerts only. Bring a chair and your dancing shoes — no outside alcohol permitted aside from what's sold on-site. Charlotte Symphony Summer Pops

The Charlotte Symphony's beloved Summer Pops series returns to Symphony Park for four spectacular Sunday evenings in June, presented by Novant Health. Each concert features a different theme: June 7 opens with a tribute to American composers and a special Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra side-by-side performance; June 14 brings Best of Broadway hits; June 21 features iconic cinematic scores; and June 28 closes with a patriotic Fourth of July celebration and a thrilling fireworks finale.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with prelude performances beginning at 7 p.m. Concertgoers are encouraged to pack a picnic basket and a blanket or lawn chair for a relaxed evening on the lawn. A $250 subscription is available for all four concerts with a reserved lawn space. Alcohol, food, and beverages are available for purchase on-site.

Get dinner from an eclectic group of area trucks, relax in the park, listen to good music, and enjoy the downtown vibe! A variety of food trucks will roll into downtown Matthews this spring and summer! Park and food trucks open at 5 pm. Music starts at 6 pm, and plays until 8:30 or 8:45 pm (most bands are playing 2 sets with a small break between). Park clears at 9 pm.

The Meck Sounds Music Series brings free live music to four Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation locations on select nights throughout the summer. The series spans a wide range of genres — from high-energy rock to smooth soul, R&B, funk, and everything in between — with top-notch performers taking the stage at community parks across the county.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for a relaxed evening under the stars, and local food trucks will be on-site at each event. Beer is available for purchase for adults 21 and older, but no outside alcohol is permitted. The series rotates through several parks including Ramsey Creek Beach (Cornelius), Eastway Recreation Center (East Charlotte), and Pearl Street Park (Midtown).
